Denis McMahon

Denis has been working in, managing and investing in property for over 33 years. In that time he has built an enviable reputation of trust and professionalism, and a deep understanding of and love for property. Denis has always put his investors first in all property decisions, a commitment still inherent in the way Property Managers Group operates today.

Denis’ property management career began in Auckland managing a sizeable property portfolio (including two retirement villages) for a local council body, which led to a position as Manager of Property and Legal Services with the Tauranga City Council in 1990. This work included rationalizing the newly amalgamated authority’s property portfolio over a two-year timeframe.

In 1992 Denis became a director in a leading commercial real estate company until late 1994, when he left to set up Property Managers Limited. In 1992, Denis was a pioneer in the commercial property industry, introducing PMG investors to the innovative idea of property syndications, making commercial property ownership easier for his valued investors. Furthermore, in 2014 Denis co-founded Pacific Property Fund Limited with experienced property investor Phil Tushingham, PMG’s first managed property fund.

In 2013, Denis became Chairman of PMG, following the appointment of CEO, Scott McKenzie. This appointment is part of PMG’s strategic long-term succession plan and allows Denis to focus on spending more time with investors and finding investment opportunities.

Denis is a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand and is a former chairman of the Property Council, Bay of Plenty Branch (1996 – 2000).
