PMG Founder and Chair Denis McMahon Recognised for Extensive Service to the Bay of Plenty

We’re thrilled to say that our very own founder and Chair, Denis McMahon, was recognised for his significant contribution to the Bay of Plenty’s Property Sector at the Bay of Plenty Property Council Awards on September 19.

Awarded the Long Service Award for his commitment to the local property industry, which spans more than three decades, the accolade cited Denis’ leadership roles in both the public, private and quasi-public sectors during pivotal times in the sector’s history.

Denis was instrumental during the controversial and publicly unpopular at the time, merger of the Mt Maunganui and Tauranga City Council’s merger in 1990 to 1992. Denis’ was responsible for rationalising, combining, discarding or condensing a number of properties owned by the councils which resulted in huge savings for local ratepayers.

In 1992, Denis started commercial property management company, Property Managers Group, and over the following 27 years, with the help of the PMG team and his fellow directors, built up the company which is today recognised as one of New Zealanders most trusted property funds managers (now known as PMG) with $420m of funds under management and still proudly Bay of Plenty based.

PMG CEO and co-director, Scott McKenzie says the award is very well-deserved. “It’s outstanding to see Denis receive this accolade,” says Scott.

“Over the years through sheer hard work and pioneering endeavours, Denis has been very successful and the Bay of Plenty has been the beneficiary. Denis has amassed a large trusted network of stakeholders within the property industry who have nothing but respect for him.”

“On behalf of the proud PMG Team, congratulations Denis,” he says.
