PMG’s UpliftHER 2020 Event Draws the Crowds

On Wednesday, 2 December 2020, PMG hosted over 100 ladies for its second UpliftHER event. Following the success of the inaugural event in 2019, we again celebrated five inspiring local women and their contribution to the Bay of Plenty community.

This year’s keynote speakers included Glenys Watson, who spoke of her calling to adopt four children from Russia, and Lavina Good who shared her numerous charitable endeavours, from Good Neighbour Food Rescue Charity to youth mental health with P-Not Once and also as the co-instigator of the Ladies’ Long Charity Lunch.

They were joined on stage by Rachael Pearce from Cherish Life, Renee Ball from The Lactation Station, and Leigh Kite from Hemp Farm NZ, who also told their inspiring stories of hard work, grit and growth.

PMG’s own Lorena Zanesco was the event’s MC for the evening, and special guests included Tania Wilson from Momenta, Dee Collins from Focus Magazine, Nina Le Lievre from Enterprise Angels.

Guests were treated to drinks and canapes, and an impressive goodie bag that included items from past and present contributors, alongside the December/January issue of Bay of Plenty’s Focus Magazine.

As part of the event, PMG highlighted women’s charity Dress For Success Bay of Plenty, and President Michelle Pleydell shared a few words on the night. Together we raised $280, and many donated everything from personal hygiene products to gently used handbags to help the charity continue to empower women to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event, donated, and shared their stories. We look forward to doing it all again in 2021.
