As we approach PMG’s 30th anniversary, we can take the opportunity to reflect on some of our defining moments over the last three decades.
Our values and commitment to approachability remain just as important to us, as do the long-term relationships we’re proud to have built over the years.
Shortly after our establishment in Tauranga back in 1992, PMG forged one of our longest and most valued partnerships to date, with Doug Beck from The Renovation Company.

After moving to Tauranga from Wellington in the early 1990s, Doug saw a gap in the local market when it came to renovations.
He used his expertise in renovations and maintenance in the commercial sector to establish The Renovation Company, and quickly became known for his excellent service and work around the Bay of Plenty.
The Renovation Company was first contracted to work on PMG properties in 1998 and has since become PMG’s go-to contractor in the Bay.
Doug initially worked on PMG’s Spring Street property in the CBD, including opening up accessway into the arcade. From there, The Renovation Company has continued to complete specialised maintenance across PMG’s portfolio in Tauranga.
“We’ve had a great relationship over the years with PMG, and we’ve worked closely with the team as it’s grown and evolved – from Red Square in the heart of the CBD through to 143 Durham Street and beyond today,” says Doug.
“We’ve seen the business grow from the early days with Denis through to Scott coming on board, more high-quality properties added to the portfolio, and big growth across the country.
“PMG have certainly grown but their core values have remained – the team is just as friendly and approachable as ever.”
More recently, the family business has seen Doug’s son Bill take the reins, as well as the company completing more contract fit outs across PMG’s portfolio, like at 143 Durham Street.
“We’ve valued our relationship with PMG, as well as the continued trust the team has in us to deliver fit-for-purpose spaces that support PMG’s efforts in looking after their tenants,” says Doug.
Knowing PMG investors are getting good bang for their buck when it comes to their renovations and fit outs is important to Doug, which is why he decided to become an investor in three of PMG’s funds in 2017.
“After working with PMG for so many years and having built a genuine, trusting relationship with Denis, Scott and the team, I was really pleased to invest in the Pacific Property Fund Limited, Direct Office Fund and Generation Fund,” says Doug.
“Relationships are everything and we can trust PMG to be a reliable, trustworthy company, who we are proud to be associated with.”
PMG’s General Manager Property, Jamie Reid, says PMG’s partnership with The Renovation Company is cherished and one the wider team is proud to have.
“With expert knowledge of PMG’s properties and a dedication to providing excellent service, we’re really proud to continue working with Doug, Bill and The Renovation Team,” says Jamie.
“The team deliver high-quality maintenance and renovations for us, and support our long-term objective to be a property partner of choice.”
