On Saturday, 3 May at approximately 5pm, an incident involving an electric vehicle truck fire occurred at Bethlehem Town Centre. The fire originated in the vehicle’s lithium battery while at a charging station. Emergency services responded swiftly, supported by Centre security and PMG’s Property and Centre Management teams. The fire was safely contained and the vehicle removed in the early hours of Sunday morning.
As a precaution, some businesses and a section of Bethlehem Road were temporarily closed, including the Centre’s second entrance. All impacted retailers resumed trade on Sunday, 4 May and no injuries were reported. The fire was contained and safely managed thanks to the prompt and professional response of emergency services, Centre security, and the PMG team.

Security remained on site overnight to liaise with emergency services and monitor the situation. The PMG team are cooperating with Chargenet to investigate the incident, but it appears to be isolated.
