“When she joined PMG in 2015, she was tasked with setting up an effective and customer-service focused facilities management function within PMG. Not only has she delivered over and above on this in the last eight years, but she has also built up a team around her that collectively is delivering on our aim to be a partner of choice for our tenants.”

“I’m humbled by this nomination and excited to be considered for the position,” says Simi.

People at the heart
Simi has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration from Massey University. Having started her career in after-sales administration and working on both sides of the facilities management spectrum (tenant and owner side), she brings a holistic understanding of the interaction between property and people.
At the heart of her successful career is her love for building relationships and connecting with the people who make facilities management thrive. Her ability to engage with stakeholders and embrace the variety inherent in her role has led Simi to become a certified member of FMANZ (CFMANZ) and in 2020, receiving the Brian Happy Award for Facilities Manager of the Year. In 2023, her work in facilities management earned her team another three nominations in the FMANZ awards, which will be announced at the end of September.
Advocating for sustainability
One of Simi's defining qualities is her unwavering commitment to sustainability. She collaborates closely with stakeholders, including service providers and tenants, to drive sustainability initiatives.
“Simi has led and shaped initiatives such as solar implementation, electrification, and Toitū certification for PMG. Her dedication to sustainability underscores her role as a strategic thinker, working towards a greener and more efficient future for the industry,” says PMG GM Property, Jamie Reid.
Champion for safety and compliance
Simi’s dedication to safety is equally commendable. She proudly established a robust health and safety system for PMG and continues to work with Health & Safety New Zealand to manage risk and compliance across their extensive portfolio. Her diligence ensures that all aspects of facilities management, from sustainability to safety, are managed with the utmost care and responsibility.
A vision for the future

“I believe in continuous improvement, sustainability, and the importance of engaging tenants from the outset of a project. I see this as an opportunity to draw from my experiences to educate and inspire others in the industry, but also to raise awareness about the fantastic work and dedication of facilities management professionals,” says Simi.
As a leader, advocate and trailblazer, Simi embodies excellence in facilities management. Her vision and commitment are sure to leave an indelible mark on the industry.
